I am currently Professor at the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Vice-Rector for Research, PhD Coordinator (11 PhD students), Manager of the CTT-Biotech Technology Transfer Center, Editor-in-Chief of 5 scientific journals, all within the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Also, since 2017 I am an Expert Evaluator in Bio-Economics at the European Commission. I am teaching Food Chemistry and Food biotechnology disciplines at bachelor level, and as well Molecular Gastronomy, Usage oriented products and Omic Applications at master level. Currently, I am coordinating 2 international research projects, 1 national project, and I have successfully completed 4 international research projects, 6 national research projects, 2 academic grants and 4 innovation projects, being also a member of over 10 scientific research projects.
Most important running project, started last year during the pandemic, is my soul project actually, entitled Stiinta cu sare si piper – “Science with salt and peper” – a new way to find the explanations behind culinary phenomena with the help of interactive and easy-to-understand experiments for which we only need a small dose of curiosity and a lot of good mood. I created this project precisely to explain what at first sight sometimes seems too complicated and out of the desire to bring closer to everyone all the curiosities I had, as well, about molecular gastronomy.
A lot of literature research, always being up to date to the latest news via hundreds of peer-review actions done for the most prestigious journals, via the position of EC evaluator where I am in a permanent contact with extremely interesting ideas of research projects (mostly involving the SMEs), and of course being inspired by the professional context.
